A hip to gable loft conversion, with a rear dormer on a bungalow
The changes made for this hip to gable loft conversion also meant some key layout changes had to be designed. The entrance of the house led into porch, followed by a hallway which connected with two downstairs bedrooms at the front. A lounge could be found at the back of the property on the left hand side, which allowed access into the conservatory at the rear. Also downstairs was a WC, bathroom and two cupboard spaces in the hallway. The kitchen sat at the back and the stairway to the first floor was positioned here. With the changes being made upstairs, this meant the stairs had to be repositioned to a more central area, with the two hallway cupboards making way for the new stairs.
The loft upstairs originally featured one solitary bedroom with the rest of the space used only for storage. The storage area was completed converted to include two new bedrooms, both of which featured new dormer windows. The existing bedroom also saw the introduction of a dormer window, in place of the frame that had previously been in place. A second bathroom was also installed for use by those using the bedrooms upstairs. One of the bedrooms that had previously been on the ground floor was re-positioned into the new loft space, which allowed a new dining room to take its place downstairs at the front of the house.
