A side extension with a knock through into the kitchen
This compact detached home needed plans to accommodate a larger kitchen, to offer some balance to the layout of the property. The owners felt the lounge was disproportionately large in comparison, we drew up plans for a single storey side extension with a knock through into the kitchen, which doubled it in size. No other structural changes were made to the front of the property, which included a WC and a lounge that remained fully in intact.
The size of the property didn’t offer too much space for additional storage, the plans lead to the formation of a storage room, immediately to the left of the entrance to the house. A connecting door creates a walkway between the storage room and the newly expanded kitchen. A dividing wall created a utility room with a separate sink, before entering the main area at the rear of the property. A new window was installed along with a set of French doors and a Velux roof window added a new source of natural light into the kitchen.
